Gates of Vienna News Feed 8/9/2012

Gates of Vienna News Feed 8/9/2012A Delta flight from Pittsburgh to New York was delayed on the runway in Pittsburgh by a swarm of bees. About 10,000 honeybees took up residence on one wing of the aircraft, and — since they are a protected species — a master beekeeper had to be called in to remove them safely. The flight took off about forty minutes late.

In other news, four teenagers in Hayward, California were arrested on suspicion of vandalism that interferes with civil rights when they threw lemons at a mosque. No one was injured in the incident, although one person was hit with a lemon.

the honey bees, which are a protected species and should not be killed, according to WTAE TV of Pittsburgh

I've been a beekeeper for 43 years.
Unfortunately, honeybees are not a protected species. It is wonderful that they can be retrieved.
And, it is very late in the season for a swarm.
